The Lovers (Tarot)

The lovers is one of the also major arcana -called trump cards of the Tarot .

presentation

It shows a young man and a young woman, mostly side by side, and often bared. The Waite Tarot shows them as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden . The tree of life appears behind Adam, and the tree of knowledge appears behind Eve (with serpent ). The sun is shining right over their heads.

interpretation

The map represents relationships and options .

The card is associated with the zodiac sign of Gemini and is also associated with the card The Gemini in some decks . Others associate the map with air , Mercury, or the Hebrew letter ז( Zajin ).

history

The card has two different traditions:

  1. The Italian story in which a simple allegory is made with love .
  2. The Marseilles tradition, which is a permutation of the themes “choice” or “ temptation ”.
