The Reform Conservatives - REKOS (short name: REKOS ) are a political party in Austria . She describes herself as reformatory and conservative . The party has been inactive since mid-2016.

history

On 23 December 2013, the MEP announced Ewald Stadler in a press conference that he in the European elections in 2014 with its own party wants to compete, the REKOS. Stadler had previously been excluded from the BZÖ on October 3, 2013 for “behavior that was harmful to the party” .

The Christian Party of Austria (CPÖ) under party chairman Rudolf Gehring as well as some students from the wider area of the Young European Student Initiative (JES) , represented by Alexander Tschugguel, supported the REKOS. However, the JES emphasized that they did not support Ewald Stadler or the Rekos, nor any other party or another candidate.

The party program was published on February 12, 2014. Stadler gave 5% of the vote as the target for the EU election. However, at 1.18%, this target was missed.

After the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, the party planned to build up a structure in Austria and run nationwide for the next National Council elections , but this did not materialize.

Alignment

The party is committed to “Christian values, to the Christian tradition of the West, to the importance of the family and to free property”, is critical of the EU and wants to represent an alternative to the right-wing populist FPÖ and conservative ÖVP .

Furthermore, the party advocates animal welfare and an “affordable life” and takes action against “popular idleness”, which means that apprentices and students in Austria are not adequately trained. She advocates a new elite way of thinking in schools and universities . The political term right should be demonized and differentiated from right-wing extremism . The party chairman Stadler can also envisage a possible reintroduction of the monarchy .

Foreign policy

The party sharply criticizes the Western approach against Russia in relation to the Ukraine crisis and warns of a military conflict between NATO and Russia. She also calls for better relations with Russia in general. The European Parliament is to be abolished. Overall, a "centralized" EU is viewed very critically, the integration process should be reversed. She calls for special solidarity with the Christian victims of Islamism in the form of IS in the Middle East.

Social policy

The family is seen as the nucleus of society, the classic variant (father, mother, child) of which must be protected and preserved. Homosexual partnerships, gender mainstreaming and all-day school are viewed particularly critically. In addition, the birth rate in Austria is to be increased. The protection of life is fundamentally important for the party; it vehemently opposes abortion and euthanasia in a conservative Christian manner . She strictly rejects the liberalization of soft drugs such as cannabis . Tradition should again find a stronger emphasis, so imported festivals and customs such as Halloween are rejected.
