The slaves of Damascus (original title: L'eroe di Babilonia ) is an Italian historical adventure film with fantasy elements. The of Siro Marcellini staged film had on 3 July 1964 its premiere in Germany. An alternate title of the video release was Babylonia .
action
Balthazar has seized the throne of Babylonia (in the German version Damascus) and rules the city with an iron hand and violence. The rightful owner of the throne, Nippur, grew up with Cyrus, the Persian king, and sets off for his homeland to end the tyranny and bring peace back to the empire. During his journey, he frees the Jewish girl Tamira from the hands of the captors of Balthazar, who wanted to bring her to the goddess Itar as a flame sacrifice.
However, Balthazar is able to track down the girl's and Nippur's quarters and have them thrown into dungeon. With the help of his friends, Nippur is able to free himself and open the gates of Babylonia to the troops of Cyrus. Balthazar dies at the sword of Nippur, who ascends the throne with Tamira.

A film of modest design, made with meager means and very predictable in its narrative solutions, writes Segnalazioni Cinematografiche Cinema.de, said it offers "tried and tested products from the sandal factory"
