Gian Paolo Callegari

Gian Paolo Callegari (born March 7, 1909 in Bologna , † 1982 ) was an Italian playwright , screenwriter and film director .

Life

After studying law, Callegari worked as a journalist and film critic for La Tribuna ; In addition, he gained a certain reputation as a playwright with pieces that were unusual for the time, such as the romance La pista di carbone or his dramas Cristo ha ucciso and Le ragazze bruciati verdi . Since 1939 he was also active in film, writing around thirty scripts, often for genre films . He made his first directorial work in 1952 and made several commercially successful, but only moderately interesting films. Between 1961 and 1969 he was also active with four television subjects.
