The U-Boot Academy ( Going Under ) is an American comedy film directed by Mark W. Travis from 1990 .

action

Captain Biff Banner of the US Navy suffers from claustrophobia , which is why he has already been treated. He becomes the commander of the nuclear powered submarine USS Sub-Standard . The boat has numerous construction defects, which is why the builders have an interest in the boat sinking so that it is not inspected.

The submarine is tasked with recovering a warhead near the Soviet coast. It uses a sonar system that imitates the voices of whales, but that makes the boat a hunting target for whalers.

The warhead is found, but the Soviet fleet wants to take it over. The US Navy faces the Soviets. Banner decorates his body with war paint, disguises himself as a football player, and takes the boat through the Soviet lines. In the Soviet command center , a bear looks over the officers' shoulders at the screen depicting the situation.

A saboteur tries to detonate the warhead, but they manage to get the explosive device away in time. The boat is returning to the USA.
