The three Musketeers (original title: The Three Musketeers ) is an American coat-and-sword film by Fred Niblo from 1921. The silent film is based on the famous novel of the same name by Alexandre Dumas the Elder and was a great success. It was Douglas Fairbanks' first major costume film .

D'Artagnan gets into a duel with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, but becomes friends with them. Together they try to thwart Cardinal Richelieu's plan to discredit the Queen. The Cardinal sent Lady De Winter to obtain a brooch that the Queen gave to the Duke of Buckingham.
