action

The young Alex Morin works as a secretary for the famous Egyptologist Prof. Mäander. He tries to relax his subordinate's fiancée Myra Korff. He lures Myra away from Morin with promises. This in turn he puts in his apartment under drugs mixed in the wine. In the ensuing intoxication, Morin, who last deciphered an Egyptian hieroglyphic tablet, finds himself in a strange dream. There, as an Egyptian, he is looking for a mysterious treasure in the burial chamber of the golden lotus. The princess, however, awakens from her dead calm and has the intruder arrested. The Egyptian quickly falls in love with the beauty, who is exactly like the real Myra. The pharaoh and father of the lotus, who in turn bears the traits of Prof. Mäander, wants to have the young troublemaker killed and plans to throw him to the lions in the cage to eat.

Back to reality: Meander married Myra, and Morin got over his grief by writing a novel. This book made him rich and famous overnight. However, Prof. Mäander's marriage to Myra did not bring him any luck, the wife costs him a lot of money. Now he is almost broke and wants to use the knowledge of the hieroglyphic writing deciphered by Morin on the Egyptian tablets to financially rehabilitate himself. His colleagues don't believe in success. Meander and his wife Myra travel to Egypt, and he starts digging like a man possessed. When the professor didn't get a millimeter further, he smashed the blackboard in despair and anger and died of a heart attack. Myra returns home alone and has to dispose of all his belongings in order to pay off the dead husband's debts. She has been seeing Morin again at the sale for a long time. Both reconcile and plan a future together.

Reviews

“A piece of Egyptian custom rolls up before our eyes and we become conscious of the dead culture of the land of the pyramids. The decorations are absolutely stylish and created with great effort. Leontine Kühnberg portrays Myra, the lovely lotus. She not only looks gorgeous in the clothes of the twentieth century, she also knows how to be delightful as a lady from the time 5000 BC. "

Paimann's film lists summed up: “Material is very good. Photos, game and especially the scenery were excellent. "
