Diederich Schrötteringk

Diederich Schrötteringk (born August 17, 1597 in Hamburg ; † December 7, 1678 there ) was a German businessman and Hamburg senior citizen .

Origin and family

Schrötteringk was a son of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Petri Jürgen Schrötteringk (1551-1631) from his second marriage to Anna von Holten (1577-1643). The Hamburg mayor Johann Schrötteringk (1588–1676) was a half-brother from his father's first marriage and the protonotary Hinrich Schrötteringk (1611–1686) was his younger brother.

Schrötteringk was married to Barbara Timm († 1640). The eldest son from this marriage, Jürgen Schrötteringk (1622–1670), became senior in the parish of Sankt Katharinen .

Live and act

As a merchant Schrötteringk was elected to the Admiralty Customs in 1628 , to the Bread Ordinance in 1629, to the Beer and Wine Accise in 1630 , to the Bakenzoll , which was levied to secure the Elbe shipping, in 1637 as head of the orphanage and in 1639 to the building yard citizen . On August 31, 1641 Schrötteringk was elected war commissioner , in 1642 to the administration of the Hamburg ramparts and in 1646 as provisional of the prison . On 29 December 1647 he was appointed Banco citizens and finally on April 8, 1650, as the successor of the councilors elected Jürgen Möller , for Oberaltenburg in the parish of St. Catherine's elected (1595-1662). In 1650 and 1666 Schrötteringk was President of the College of the Elderly. After he had administered this office for 17 years, Schrötteringk resigned in 1667 for reasons of age. On May 6, 1667, Diederich Hoppe (1603–1670) succeeded him as senior elder.
