Diederik Jacob van Tuyll van Serooskerken ( Russian Фёдор Васильевич Тейль ван Сераскеркен , Fyodor Wassiljewitsch Tejl wan Seraskerken ; * 1772 ; † 1826 ) was a Russian ambassador .

Life

Diederik Jacob baron (German: Freiherr) van Tuyll van Serooskerken, a son of Willem René baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken (1743–1839) and Johanna Catharina Fagel (1747–1833), was a commander of Russian troops in the Napoleonic War . He came from the Dutch nobility and served in the Dutch army, from which he took his leave on November 23, 1803.

In 1805 he led an expedition to Corfu with the rank of major . In 1807 he fought on the French side in Prussia . In the Russo-Swedish War (1808-1809) he was used in various general staff positions. He was wounded at the Battle of Idelsalmi. In 1808 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on April 14, 1809 to colonel. In 1810 he was accredited as the Russian ambassador in Vienna and researched the strength and movements of the Napoleonic troops.

In 1813 he became quartermaster general . From 1813 to 1814 he took part in battles.

Since May 1814 he was involved in various Russian diplomatic missions in Naples and was accredited by the Holy See .
