Paul Alexander von Krüdener ( Russian Павел Алексеевич Криденер ; born January 31, 1784 in Saint Petersburg ; † January 29, July / February 10,  1858 greg. In Bern ) was a Russian diplomat with the rank of ambassador .

Life

Krüdener was a member of the German-Baltic noble family von Krüdener and the son of Juliane and Burckhard Alexius Constantin von Krüdener and was baptized after the Grand Duke Paul in the name of Pawel Alexejewitsch Kridener . Catherine II of Russia sent von Krüdener's father as ambassador to the Republic of Venice . Von Krüdener grew up in Venice from 1784 to 1786 , in Munich from 1786 to 1787 , in Copenhagen from 1787 to 1794 and in Madrid from 1794 to 1800 .

In 1802 von Krüdener became secretary of the Russian envoy Count Maximilian von Alopaeus at the court of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia .

In 1811 von Krüdener was arrested in Strasbourg . From 1817 he was the Imperial Russian Chargé d' affaires at the Swiss Confederation in Bern and invited his mother over.

From 1822 to 1826 Krüdener was an attaché at the Russian legation in Munich, when Fyodor Ivanovich Tjuttschew was also accredited there. The two diplomats avoided a duel in connection with Amalie Stargard .

On August 31, 1825, von Krüdener married Amalie Stargard in Köfering . They had a son.

Tsar Alexander I died on November 19, 1825 and his successor Nicholas I sent von Krüdener from 1827 to 1837 as an ambassador to John Quincy Adams in the USA.
