Diego De Souza , full name Diego Alejandro De Souza Carballo , (born May 14, 1984 in Melo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.75 meter tall midfielder De Souza was at the beginning of his career from the Apertura 2003 up to and including the Apertura 2010 in the squad of the first division Defensor Sporting . In the first year of his membership in the first division squad, only one goalless league appearance was recorded for him. In the 2006/07 season he was there in 25 games of the Primera División for use and scored seven goals. In the following season he won the Uruguayan championship with the Montevideans. 2008/09 shows his hit account in the league ten goals scored. The usage statistics for the first division seasons 2009/10 and 2010/11 show him 26 games (eleven goals) and 14 games (five goals). He also played at least nine games in the Copa Libertadores (four goals) and ten games in the Copa Sudamericana (four goals) during his time at Defensor . In 2011 he moved to CA Banfield in Argentina . There, too, he played 15 times in the 2010/11 season, but did not hit the opposing goal. In 2011/12 he scored one goal in 17 games for the Banfield club . In 2012 he returned to Uruguay and joined the Montevideo Wanderers . In the 2012/13 season, the coach placed him 16 times in the Primera División. De Souza stayed at this career station without a goal. In 2013 he started working for the eastern Uruguayan club Cerro Largo FC in his hometown . After playing twelve first division games (no goal), he moved to Municipal in Guatemala in 2014 . At the club from the capital Guatemala City , he played in 17 league games (one goal) and three games (one goal) in the CONCACAF Champions League . At the end of August 2015, he rejoined the now second-rate Cerro Largo FC. By the end of the season, he was there in seven league matches and scored two goals.

National team

De Souza belonged to the U-17 team of Uruguay coached by Juan Jacinto Rodríguez , who took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Peru in 2001 and finished in 6th place.
