history
The Services for People gGmbH emerged from the Association of Schwäbischer Feierabendheime e. V. and is an association of social enterprises.
The association itself goes back to the Feierabendverein Waiblingen eV, founded in 1957. V. At the time it was founded, the aim of the association was to create a retirement and nursing home in Waiblingen . In 1965 construction of the after-work home in Waiblingen could begin. From this after-work home, the Association of Schwäbischer Feierabendheime e. V. founded. In 2001 the association was founded in Dienst für Menschen e. V. renamed, since 2004 the company is a non-profit GmbH.
The association had eight subsidiaries, all of which were directly or indirectly active in the field of elderly care.
From the Association of Schwäbischer Feierabendheime e. V., the Paul Lempp Foundation, AERPAH Krankenhausgesellschaft mbH and Diakonie Mobil GmbH were spun off from 1989–1992. All four companies were founded in 2001 under the name Unternehmensgruppe Dienst für Menschen e. V. summarized. Afterwards the Feierabendheime Thüringen GmbH, Feierabendheime in Sachsen GmbH, Paul Lempp Foundation Marketing GmbH and Services for People Housekeeping GmbH were founded.
For the activities in the federal states with the companies Feierabendheime in Sachsen GmbH 1995 and Feierabendheime in Bayern GmbH 1999 separate companies were founded. In 2006 they were renamed Services for People Saxony gGmbH and Services for People Bavaria gGmbH.

In 2017, the company had 1,800 employees and looked after around 1,600 people in need of care in 21 facilities in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria and Saxony . In assisted living , there were about 350 apartments. In addition, eight outpatient care services operate at home. At most locations there are several offers available at the same time.

Gisela Rehfeld Prize
The prize advertised by Rölke Pharma was named after the managing director of the Services for People gGmbH Gisela Rehfeld. The work should be based on Gisela Rehfeld's goal of promoting the position of nursing in the interdisciplinary geriatric team, as well as supporting holistic access to older people in general and thus their quality of life.
Others
The "Five Esslingers" are gymnastic exercises to maintain fitness. The exercises were developed in Esslingen and tested in Gaggenau. Martin Runge , Medical Director of the Aerpah Clinic Esslingen-Kennenburg, developed these exercises. The "Five Esslingers" aim at the weak points that geriatric medicine has researched. Lifelong fitness requires strength, speed, flexibility, endurance and coordination / balance. In order to avoid falls in old age, emphasis is placed on the muscles around the hip joint.
