Dieter Fischer (soccer player, 1936)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Fischer (born January 1, 1936 in Gärnitz near Markranstädt ; † March 5, 2016 ) was a soccer player in the GDR and national player in the GDR's national soccer team .

The time in Markranstädt

Dieter Fischer played at Motor Markranstädt when he was young. Because of his talent, he received invitations to central courses in the football section of the GDR Association in 1953. At the age of 17 he was used in the 1st team of Motor (district league - third highest class). In 1953/54 he played with Markranstädt in the district class (fourth class). After a short experiment at the SC DHfK Leipzig, from mid-1954, he rose again to the district league with Markranstädt in 1955. There, Fischer played the transition round in 1955 a. in the 1956 season.

False start with the SC DHfK Leipzig

At the age of 18, Dieter Fischer joined the newly established soccer section of the Leipzig German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in 1954 , which started with two teams under the name SC DHfK Leipzig at the beginning of the 1954/55 soccer season in the second-rate GDR league . It was an attempt to prepare young and talented football players for higher tasks using the academic resources of the university. The teams, which were composed of inexperienced players from numerous sports communities in the GDR, only achieved a 6th and 12th place in the first half series, and so the experiment was stopped without further ado, the teams dissolved in early 1955 and the players distributed to other teams. While most of Dieter Fischer's teammates found accommodation with teams in the GDR upper league , the top division, Fischer went to the fourth-class company sports association Motor Markranstädt near Leipzig.

Successful at SC Lok Leipzig

At the beginning of the 1957 season (at that time the playing time was adjusted to the calendar year), Fischer moved to the league club SC Lokomotive Leipzig, the successor club of the former GDR champions Chemie Leipzig , who had finished the previous season as third in the championship. The now 21-year-old was intended for the Leipzig team on the right side of the storm. Fischer, already recognized as a talent by the DHfK, quickly won a regular place. On December 22, 1957, he and his team were in the final of the GDR Cup competition and won the cup after a 2-2 victory over Empor Rostock . 1958 Fischer was called up after a deployment in the B national team on September 14, 1958 in the A international match against Romania (3: 2) and on October 7, 1958 against Bulgaria (1: 1). At the end of the year Fischer was again in the final of the GDR Cup competition, but this time lost with his team 1: 2 against SC Einheit Dresden . In the fall of 1959, Fischer was a member of the GDR Olympic team , but had to bury his dreams of the Olympics after two defeats against the West German DFB team . The championship year 1959 was not very successful either, Lok Leipzig only finished in 9th place at the end of the season. It was not until 1960 that Fischer started to see success again. In the summer he was used again after a two-year break in two games of the senior team, on July 10, 1960 against Bulgaria (0: 2) and on August 17, 1960 against the Soviet Union (0: 1). At the end of the season he won the bronze medal in the GDR championship with his home team. Fischer was never the type of a goalscorer, it was only in the 1962/63 season that he appeared in the upper region of the Oberliga scorers list. Together with his club-mate Henning Frenzel , he had ten goals, so that both were among the ten best goalscorers of the season.

Disappointments with SC Leipzig

After the 1962/63 season, Fischer was again an object in the process of transforming GDR football. So far, Leipzig has been represented by two equally strong teams in the league, but without a top team having emerged. This should now be done from the green table through the creation of the SC Leipzig , to which the supposedly best Leipzig players were assigned for this purpose. At first it seemed lucky for Fischer to be one of the chosen ones, but at the end of the 1963/64 season the disillusionment followed when it was not SC Leipzig but BSG Chemie that won the title with the “rest of Leipzig” that had been singled out. However, Fischer's team was able to console itself by winning the bronze medal. The 1964/65 season brought no further progress in Fischer's career, there were no more appointments to the national team, the SC Leipzig deteriorated in the final account by one place in 4th place, again behind the local rival chemistry. Fischer then ended his football career in Leipzig at the age of 29, 176 top division games and 24 goals at the end of the season.

End of career in Gera

Surprisingly, Dieter Fischer joined the second division BSG Wismut Gera in the summer of 1965 . For this team too, the past season was disappointing. If you had always played in the top of the GDR league in recent years, there was a fatal fall to 12th place in 1964/65, four points ahead of a relegation place. Then the access of the former national player for the Thuringian was particularly valuable, in the summer of 1966 Gera had achieved victory in the Northern League Season and promotion to the league. The strength of the team, however, did not correspond to the level of the top division, and so Wismut Gera rose again after a year. Fischer's qualities had also deteriorated noticeably, in the season of 26 games he was only used in 18 matches. With the end of the 1966/67 season, Fischer finally ended his career as an active football player at the age of 31.

The fact that between 1999 and 2001 he coached the SV Chemie Böhlen soccer team, which played in the Borna / Geithain regional league (8th division), proves that he remained connected to football for years. As early as 1979, at the end of the season, he had trained the league team of BSG Chemie Böhlen for two months , but could not save them from relegation.
