Dietmar Gummel

Dietmar Gummel (born September 13, 1949 in Leipzig ) is a German architect , urban planner , monument conservator , architectural historian and author.

Life

Dietmar Gummel studied architecture and urban planning at the University of Architecture and Building (1968–1972) in Weimar .

From 1972 to 1975 he worked as an architect for urban planning in the urban development office of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council . As a scientific assistant in the urban planning section at the Weimar University of Architecture and Construction, he taught from 1975 to 1978 in the field of urban-architectural design and collaborated on scientific research projects on the development of small and medium-sized towns. Further appointments to architects followed, as well as the management of the wood restoration workshop in Wohlsborn from 1980 to 1985 and the restoration workshop of the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia from 1986 to 1988.

Over the next three decades he worked as an architect, as an urban planner with a special focus on the preservation of monuments, and as an architectural historian in Weimar. Through his investigations, he secured architectural and historical findings of important buildings and squares in Weimar.

  • 1993–2001: Bath and city pharmacy in Bad Sulza , renovation
  • 1998–2000: Building complex from the 10th – 16th centuries Century as well as early 20th century in Kaufstrasse 9–11 in Weimar, renovation and monument conservation work
