Dietmar Kansy

Dietmar Kansy (born July 18, 1938 in Breslau ; † September 10, 2018 in Garbsen ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Bundestag .

Life

Kansy went to school in Potsdam and West Berlin and graduated from high school in 1958. He then studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and the Technical University of Hanover (today: Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover ), and passed his diploma examination in 1964. In 1965 he began working as an engineer at Lippeverband Dortmund and the state capital of Hannover to work, during which time he was in 1979 at the University of Hannover with the dissertation Comparative studies of different methods for the concentration of excess sludge (printed 1982) PhD . In order to devote himself to politics, he left his employment contract in 1980.

Kansy joined the CDU in 1966. He exercised several functions in the district association Hanover-Land and in the district association Hanover. Between 1967 and 1980 he was a councilor in Garbsen , a member of the district council and deputy district administrator in the Hanover district. From 1980 to 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag. In 1980 and 1998 he entered parliament via the CDU Lower Saxony state list . In the elections from 1983 to 1994, he always won a direct mandate in the Hanover-Land I constituency . He was spokesman for building and housing for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and, as chairman of the building commission of the Bundestag, he was the main representative of the parliament during the renovation of the Reichstag building by Norman Foster and the new buildings of the German Bundestag in Berlin's government district. He was also a member of the council of elders .

Commitment and honor

For many years, Kansy was state chairman of the THW helpers' association in Lower Saxony and also chairman of the advisory board of the Bundesbaugesellschaft Berlin (BBB). For his achievements in connection with the development of the government district, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin , and later also the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany .
