Dietrich Burchard von Merveldt (born April 2, 1652 in Wolbeck , † September 11, 1729 in Münster ) was official in Wolbeck.

Life

Origin and family

Dietrich Burchard von Merveldt zu Westerwinkel grew up as the son of Dietrich Hermann II von Merveldt zu Westerwinkel and his wife Hedwig Anna Sophia von Westerholt zu Lembeck (1631–1671) together with his siblings Adolf Bernhard , Goswin Hermann , Hedwig Anna (1650–1698, ∞ with Dietrich Ludolph von Galen) and Anna Margaretha Maria (1655–1729, canons in Nottuln Abbey ) in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Merveldt . On November 15, 1677, he married his cousin Anne Sophie Theodore von Westerholt zu Lembeck (1655–1742), daughter of Burchard von Westerholt (privy councilor, chief marshal) and Clare von der Recke zu Haren (1630–1679) with papal dispensation . The sons Ferdinand Dietrich , ∞ Countess Maria Josepha von Westerholt (1693–1762), and Maximilian Heinrich Burchard (Canon in Osnabrück and Münster) emerged from the marriage.

Career and work

Dietrich Burchard was assigned to his father in the office of Drosten zu Wolbeck on July 12, 1669 and finally appointed Drosten on May 18, 1688. On November 14, 1670 he enrolled at the University of Leuven . He was a chamberlain and court marshal . He was thus the chief administrative officer of the prince-bishop .

On May 3, 1708, his wife was appointed lady of the Star Cross. On December 20, 1726 Dietrich Burchard was raised to the rank of imperial count .
