Maximilian Heinrich Burchard von Merveldt (born August 10, 1684 , † September 23, 1732 in Münster ) was canon in Osnabrück and Münster.

Life

Origin and family

Maximilian Heinrich Burchard von Merveldt grew up as the son of Dietrich Burchard von Merveldt and his wife Anne Sophie Theodore von Westerholt zu Lembeck (1655–1742) together with his brother Ferdinand Dietrich in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Merveldt .

Career and work

With the receipt of the tonsure on September 27, 1698 Maximilian Heinrich was prepared for a spiritual life. He studied at the University of Siena and received a cathedral preacher in Munster in 1707 through papal intercession . Ten years later he came into the possession of another cathedral priest in Osnabrück . Before he was ordained a subdeacon on March 20, 1726 , he received the minor ordinations three days earlier . In 1726 he received the archdeaconate Auf dem Drein (Amt Stromberg) and a year later the obedience of Senden. In 1730 he was appointed provost of St. Mauritz in Münster and St. Martini in Münster . He stayed here until 1732, when he took over the archdeaconate of Xanten from his uncle Adolf Bernhard and thus the post of provost of St. Viktor in Xanten .
