Ferdinand Dietrich von Merveldt (baptismal name: Ferdinand Dietrich Friedrich) (born September 9, 1681 in Wolbeck , † January 8, 1765 in Lembeck ) was official in Wolbeck and treasurer of the Electorate of Cologne.

Life

Origin and family

Ferdinand Dietrich von Merveldt grew up as the son of Dietrich Burchard von Merveldt and his wife Anne Sophie Theodore von Westerholt zu Lembeck (1655–1742) together with his brother Maximilian Heinrich Burchard in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Merveldt . On August 17, 1708, with papal dispensation , he married Josefa Maria Anna von Westerholt zu Lembeck (1693–1762), heiress of Lembeck. The children Clemens August , Burchard Alexander , Franz Arnold , Maximilian Ferdinand , Hermann Adolf (* 1718, Order of Malta) and Sophie Ludovica Agnes (1730-1810, ⚭ February 10, 1748 Wilhelm Ferdinand von Galen ) emerged from the marriage.

Career and work

After attending the Jesuit grammar school in Münster with graduation in 1695, he studied at the University of Siena in 1703 , after he was sworn to the knighthood of Münster in May 1700 . On January 5, 1719 he was assigned to his father in the office of Drosten zu Wolbeck and finally appointed Drosten on February 17, 1725. In the same year he was also appointed treasurer of the Electorate of Cologne . In 1763 he was a deputy of the Münster knighthood at the Landscape Penny Chamber in Münster.

Others

His wife was appointed Lady of the Star Cross on September 14, 1714.
