Dimitri Zacharias Pappas

Dimitri Zacharias Pappas (born December 12, 1921 in Hegyeshalom , Hungary ; † May 7, 1999 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian entrepreneur of Greek and Hungarian origin and, since 1957, the Greek Consul General in Salzburg.

Life

Dimitri Zacharias Pappas was the son of the Greek doctor Zacharias Pappas and grew up on his parents' estate in Hungary. Pappas studied at the Vienna Engineering Academy. In 1945 the family moved to Salzburg.

With his younger brother Georg Pappas , Dimitri Pappas set up the Mercedes-Benz organization in Austria from 1952 . While his brother became managing director, Dimitri took care of important customer contacts.

In 1965 he and his brother also founded the construction company Alpine Baugesellschaft mbH . In 1990 he and his brother set up the Mercedes-Benz general agent in Hungary ( Pappas Group ).

He had been a consular post in Salzburg since 1956. On June 9, 1957, the Republic of Greece granted him the exequatur as head of its consular mission for Upper Austria , Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg . Since December 1984 Pappas was doyen of the consular corps in Salzburg and for years of service the oldest consul in the province of Salzburg . His niece Catharina Pappas succeeded him as Consul General.
