Dimitris Diamantakos ( Greek Δημήτρης Διαμαντάκος , also Dimitrios Diamantakos ; born March 5, 1993 in Piraeus ) is a Greek football player .
Club career
Diamantakos began his career in the youth of Atromitos Piraeus. From there he moved to the bigger city rival Olympiakos . In 2012 he rose from the local U-20 to the professional team. Loans within the Greek first division to Panionios Athens , Aris Thessaloniki and Ergotelis followed . He knew how to convince there, but still didn't make the leap to become a regular at Olympiakos. He made his debut for Olympiakos in the Super League against Niki Volos on August 23, 2014 and immediately scored his first goal for Olympiakos. With Olympiacos he was Greek champion and cup winner in 2015.
However, it could not assert itself permanently and was awarded again for the 2015/16 season; The new employer was the German second division club Karlsruher SC . Since Diamantakos struggled with several injuries at the start of the season, he only made his debut for KSC on matchday 11, when he came on for Erwin Hoffer in the 78th minute in the 1-0 win in Monday's game against TSV 1860 Munich . Diamantakos crowned his starting line-up debut on matchday 14 in a 3-0 home win against VfL Bochum with his first goal for Karlsruhe. He prepared the other two gates. On February 18, 2016, the KSC withdrew the agreed purchase option, so that Diamantakos was firmly committed. He signed a contract dated June 30, 2019. After KSC was relegated to the third division at the end of the 2016/17 season and his contract was no longer valid, Diamantakos moved to VfL Bochum on a free transfer. There Diamatakos signed a contract until 2020. In the relegation season, Diamantakos, who was mostly used as a center forward, was Karlsruhe's most successful goalscorer with five goals. He made his debut for Bochum on July 28, 2017 in the 0-1 home defeat against FC St. Pauli in the opening game for the second division season 2017/18 .
On January 25, FC St. Pauli announced Diamantakos' commitment, he received a contract until 2020.
National team
Diamantakos went through all the Greek U-national teams from the U-17 to the U-21. With the Greek U-19 he reached second place in the U-19 European Football Championship in 2012 . He played with the U-20s the following year at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 , where they lost 3-1 to Uzbekistan in the round of 16 . On September 7, 2014 he made his debut for the senior team of Greece in the European Championship qualifier against Romania .
