The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

ecology

Occurrence

The rod double seed is a Mediterranean floral element and occurs in many countries in southern Europe , North Africa, western Asia and the Crimea . In Romania he is a neophyte. In Europe , its main distribution area is in the Mediterranean . In Central Europe it occurs sporadically and inconsistently on the Upper Rhine and Lake Geneva .

The rod double seed thrives best on nutrient-rich loam or clay soils . In Central Europe, the Ruten-Doppelsame inhabits areas with a warm climate in vineyards , gardens and wasteland . It likes to thrive together with the annuals of the ringwort ( Mercurialis annua ) in societies of the Fumario-Euphorbion association, for example in the Geranio-Allietum and in the Mediterranean area in societies of the Diplotaxidion association.
