Dirk Heidemann (born April 18, 1961 in Berlin ) is a German dance sport trainer , choreographer , author , former tournament dancer and photo model, as well as an international dance judge , who lives in the USA .

Life

Heidemann was multiple youth champion and German runner-up in the A-class Latin . At the age of 17 he switched to the professionals and in 1993 reached the finals of the world freestyle championship in Latin American dances.

He is the trainer of several pairs of world champions, as the association trainer of the German Dance Sports Association, among others Christoph Kies and Blanca Ribas Turón led to the world championship.

Between 2006 and 2011 he was in his job as a choreographer in several casting shows ( You Can Dance on Sat.1 , Deutschland sucht den Superstar on RTL , Das Hochzeitschiff on ARD ) on television. He is also the author of several articles on dance tournaments and a professor of dance sports at Zheng Zhou Sports University , China.

On April 18, 2011, Dirk Heidemann received the Trainer Badge of Honor from the German Dance Sports Association.

The World Dancesport Federation (WDSF) commissioned Dirk Heidemann in March 2013 to create the choreography of a flash mob for the World Dancesport Games 2013 in Kaohsiung , Taiwan . Dirk Heidemann chose the song Stamp Your Feet by the singer Donna Summer, who had recently died . In April 2013 a video was shot in Sant Cugat , Spain . Dirk Heidemann can be seen there himself as a dancer. The flash mob was presented at the opening event with great success. At the closing event, around 6,500 athletes danced Stamp your Feet in front of running TV cameras. Stamp your Feet is now one of the biggest flash mobs in the world.

In 2014 a new CD with Latin American dance music was produced under the title Dirk Heidemann - The New Latin Session with the participation of Dirk Heidemann from the music label "YesMusic". Dirk Heidemann can also be heard here as a singer.

In November 2014, Dirk Heidemann presented his first own TV comedy show Germany's most embarrassing dancers on RTL.

In 2015 Heidemann led the Russian masters Armen Tsaturyan and Svetlana Gudyno as trainers to win the European championship and to the vice-world champion title in Latin American dances. Furthermore, the Israeli couple Artyom Liaskovsky and Liana Odikadze trained by him became world champions in Latin American dances in the “Under21” category. It is the first world title for Israel in dance sport since the country's existence. In February 2017 Dirk Heidemann opened his own dance school in Manchester , Connecticut , USA. Dirk Heidemann has been a member of the jury of the ORF dance show Dancing Stars in Austria since 2017, and was a jury member of Masters of Dance in December 2018 and January 2019 .
