Dirk Landau (born January 7, 1964 in Eschwege ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1983, Dirk Landau trained as an optician in Hamburg from 1985 to 1988 and then switched to Fielmann Optik with various functions in Hamburg, Harburg and Buchholz in the Nordheide . Landau has been self-employed in the optics industry in Bad Sooden-Allendorf since 1990 . From 1992 to 1996 he attended the master school in Frankfurt am Main and Kassel and passed the master’s examination.

politics

Landau has been a member of the CDU since 1992 and has been the district chairman of the Werra-Meißner CDU since 2006.

Dirk Landau has been involved in local politics since 1993 as a city councilor for the city of Bad Sooden-Allendorf and since 2001 as a district councilor for the Werra-Meißner district . He was also a member of the association assembly of the Werra-Meißner district waste disposal association and the Meißner-Kaufunger Wald nature reserve association.

From October 7, 2003, Dirk Landau was a member of the Hessian state parliament and a member of the committee for science and art, the study committee on demographic change, budget committee, petition committee, sub-committee for financial and administrative control as well as the hardship committee at the Hessian Minister of the Interior and for Sport.

Landau represented the constituency of Eschwege-Witzenhausen in the state parliament, succeeding Uwe Brückmann , who was elected regional director of the State Welfare Association of Hesse (LWV) .

Dirk Landau failed as a candidate of the CDU for the office of the district administrator of the Werra-Meißner-Kreis on March 26, 2006 against Stefan G. Reuss (SPD).

In the state elections in Hesse in 2013 he ran in the constituency of Eschwege-Witzenhausen. Here he lost to Lothar Quanz . However, he succeeded in entering the state parliament via a list of the party. In the state elections in Hesse in 2018 , his constituency was again defeated by the SPD candidate, this time Knut John . Because the CDU's major losses did not take place on the state list of Christian Democrats either, he left the state parliament.
