The constituency of Eschwege-Witzenhausen (constituency 9) is a state electoral district in the Werra-Meißner district of Hesse . The constituency includes the cities and communities in the north of the district area Berkatal , Eschwege , Großalmerode , Hessisch Lichtenau , Meinhard , Neu-Eichenberg , Bad Sooden-Allendorf , Wanfried , Witzenhausen and the manor district of Kaufunger Wald . By law of December 18, 2017 (GVBl. P. 478), the municipality of Nieste, which until then belonged to the constituency of Kassel-Land II, was added to the constituency.

The constituency has largely existed in its current form since January 1, 1983, before that Großalmerode, Hessisch Lichtenau, Neu-Eichenberg, Bad Sooden-Allendorf, Witzenhausen and the Kaufunger Wald forest estate belonged to constituency 6 and Berkatal, Eschwege, Meinhard and Wanfried belonged to the constituency 7th

In addition to the directly elected constituency winner Knut John (SPD) for the first time, the Greens candidate Felix Martin was elected to the state parliament via the state list of his party. On the other hand, the previous CDU member Dirk Landau resigned from the state parliament, because the state list of his party no longer took off because of the high losses of the CDU.
