The constituency of Marburg-Biedenkopf I (constituency 12) is one of two state electoral districts in the Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf . The constituency includes the cities and communities Angelburg , Bad Endbach , Biedenkopf , Breidenbach , Cölbe , Dautphetal , Ebsdorfergrund , Fronhausen , Gladenbach , Lahntal , Lohra , Münchhausen , Steffenberg , Weimar (Lahn) and Wetter (Hesse) .

In the last state election, 87,803 of the approximately 114,000 inhabitants were entitled to vote. Geographically, the constituency covers the west ( old district Biedenkopf ) as well as the north-west and south (from the former old district Marburg ) of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. It is in the form of a horseshoe that opens to the east around the central district town of Marburg , which together with the east of the district forms the more populous (139,000 inhabitants) constituency of Marburg-Biedenkopf II .

The constituency of Marburg-Biedenkopf I has existed in unchanged form since January 1, 1983. Its area roughly corresponds to that of the former constituency 11 until 1982.

In addition to Thomas Schäfer (CDU) as the winner of the direct mandate, the SPD direct candidate and previous constituency member Angelika Löber and the AfD direct candidate Karl Hermann Bolldorf have moved into the state parliament via their party's state list.

After Thomas Schäfer's suicide on March 28, 2020, the CDU's substitute candidate, Horst Falk, took over the mandate in the state parliament.
