The constituency of Kassel-Land II (constituency 2) is a state electoral district in the Hessian district of Kassel . The constituency includes the cities and communities of Ahnatal , Baunatal , Fuldabrück , Helsa , Kaufungen , Lohfelden , Niestetal , Schauenburg , Söhrewald and Vellmar . By law of December 18, 2017 (GVBl. P. 478), the municipality of Nieste , which had previously been part of the constituency, was added to the Eschwege-Witzenhausen constituency .
The constituency is located in the "bacon belt" of Kassel . Although North Hesse is on average a structurally weak region, the unemployment rate in the district is lower than in the city of Kassel or Hesse as a whole (district: 5.8%, Hesse 6.8%, Kassel 12.5% in November 2007). The disposable income per inhabitant, however, at € 17,639, is 5.5% below the national average (2005). The constituency is considered an SPD stronghold.

In addition to the directly elected constituency member Manuela Strube (SPD), the AfD candidate Volker Richter was elected to the state parliament via the state list of his party. The previous left-wing MP Marjana Schott was no longer adequately protected on her party's state list in this election and therefore left parliament.
