Manfred Schaub (born October 13, 1957 in Altenbauna ; † May 20, 2018 in Baunatal ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and from 1995 to 2005 a member of the Hessian state parliament . Since 2001 he has been district chairman of the SPD district Hessen-Nord, and since 2005 mayor of Baunatal. He held both offices until his death.

Life

After graduating from high school, he worked as press spokesman and office manager in the municipal administration of the city of Baunatal until 1991. He then worked as a personal advisor to the Hessian interior ministers Herbert Günther and Gerhard Bökel in Wiesbaden. From 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . From 2005 until his death in 2018 he was mayor of the north Hessian city of Baunatal.

Schaub died on May 20, 2018 of complications from a heart attack .

From 1995 to 2005 Manfred Schaub represented the southern part of the Kassel district as a directly elected member of the Hessian state parliament.

From 1993 to 2001 Manfred Schaub was chairman of the SPD sub-district Kassel-Land and from 2001 until his death in 2018 he was district chairman of the SPD district Hessen-Nord and deputy state chairman of the Hessian SPD . From 2007 until his death he was a member of the SPD party executive.

In 2005 the citizens of the town of Baunatal elected him mayor. On March 27, 2011 he was re-elected for six years with 74.3% of the vote (with two opposing candidates). In 2017 he was re-elected with 91.7%.

Schaub had the football coach A license and was deputy chairman of the Association of German Football Teachers and from 2003 until his death he was the sports policy spokesman for the federal SPD.
