The constituency of Giessen II (constituency 19) is one of two state electoral districts in the Hessian district of Giessen . The constituency includes the cities and communities of Allendorf (Lumda) , Buseck , Fernwald , Grünberg , Hungen , Langgöns , Lich , Linden , Pohlheim , Rabenau and Reiskirchen . Before the regional elections of 2008 places remote forest, were Lollar and Staufenberg to the constituency casting I made. By law of December 18, 2017 (GVBl. P. 478), Fernwald was reintegrated into the constituency and at the same time the town of Laubach, which had previously been part of the constituency, was added to the constituency of Vogelsberg .
The constituency is the home of Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel , SPD - top candidate for the state elections in 2009, 2013 and 2018. Prime Minister Volker Bouffier is a directly elected member of the constituency, but does not live there.
The constituency of Gießen II was established on January 1, 1983, until then the Langgöns districts of Cleeberg , Dornholzhausen , Espa , Niederkleen and Oberkleen belonged to constituency 18 , Allendorf (excluding the districts of Nordeck and Winnen, which were then constituency 12 ), Buseck, Fernwald, the district of Lang-Göns , Lich (without Langsdorf), Linden, Lollar, Pohlheim, Reiskirchen (without Bersrod and Ettingshausen) and Staufenberg to constituency 20 as well as Bersrod , Ettingshausen , Grünberg, Hungen, Laubach, Langsdorf (Lich) plus Rabenau to Constituency 21 .

In addition to the directly elected constituency member Volker Bouffier (CDU), who has represented the constituency in parliament since 1999, the SPD direct candidate Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel and the AfD direct candidate Nikolaus Pethö were also elected to the state parliament via the respective state lists of their parties. However, Pethö died one day before the state parliament was constituted.
