The constituency Schwalm-Eder I (constituency 7) is a state election circuit in the Hessian Schwalm-Eder . The constituency includes the towns and communities in the north of the district Edermünde , Felsberg , Fritzlar , Gudensberg , Guxhagen , Körle , Malsfeld , Melsungen , Morschen , Niedenstein , Spangenberg and Wabern .

In the last state election, 72,235 of the approximately 91,000 residents of the constituency were entitled to vote. The constituency is considered an SPD stronghold.

The constituency was created in its current form on January 1, 1983, until then Edermünde, Fritzlar, Gudensberg, Niedenstein and Wabern belonged to constituency 9 and Felsberg, Guxhagen, Körle, Malsfeld, Melsungen, Morschen and Spangenberg belonged to constituency 6.

The constituency is represented in the state parliament by the directly elected constituency member Günter Rudolph (SPD), who has been a member of parliament since 1995. In contrast to the 2013 election, the CDU candidate Mark Weinmeister did not make the leap into parliament due to the losses of his party in this election.
