Hans-Albert Lennartz

Hans-Albert Lennartz (born September 8, 1949 in Oedt am Niederrhein ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) who is active in Lower Saxony's state politics and administration.

After passing the Abitur examination at the Thomaeum High School in 1968 , Hans-Albert Lennartz studied law and political science in Berlin and Marburg . In 1973 he passed the first state examination in law , and in 1976 he was awarded a master's degree in political science. From 1974 to 1977 Lennartz was a research assistant at the University of Gießen with Helmut Ridder . In 1980, he appealed to the higher court , the second state examination in law and has been at the University of Bremen to Dr. jur. PhD. He then worked as an administrative lawyer until 1987 and as a university lecturer at the University of Kassel from 1987 to 1989 . From 1990 to 1991 he was deputy of the Hamburg data protection officer . From 1991 to 1994 Lennartz was district president of the administrative district of Hannover and member of the Lower Saxony Police Reform Commission. Since 1994 he has been an honorary professor for public law at the University of Kassel. From 1998 he worked as a lawyer and consultant specializing in public management at WIBERA AG and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Lennartz has been a member of the Greens since 1985. From 1995 to 1999 he was the Lower Saxony state chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . In 1999 he was a member of the 11th Federal Assembly . From 2003 to 2008 (15th electoral term) he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

After leaving the state parliament, Lennartz worked for a Berlin law firm in 2008/2009. In mid-March 2009 he was appointed by the then Federal Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel as managing director of Asse-GmbH , which runs the Asse II mine , in which low and medium-level radioactive waste was stored until 1978 . Since 2012, Hans-Albert Lennartz has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hanover Monastery Chamber . Since 2016 he has been the founding managing director of the Federal Association for Final Disposal .

He is married to the former Minister of Justice of Lower Saxony, Antje Niewisch-Lennartz , and has two sons.
