Hans von Brandenstein (administrative lawyer)

Hans von Brandenstein (born December 12, 1849 in Oberammergau ; † February 20, 1938 in Berlin ) was a German administrative officer.

His parents were Ernst Karl Friedrich von Brandenstein (born January 19, 1823 - June 1, 1850) and his wife Ottilie von Sperling .

Life

Von Brandenstein studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg Law . In 1870 he became a member and later an honorary member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . After completing his studies and passing the court assessor examination in 1878, he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1880 he became a government assessor in Potsdam . In 1883 he moved to the Ministry of the Interior and in 1884 to the High Presidium of Magdeburg. In 1886 he was promoted to government councilor. In the spring of 1888 he worked for three months with Crown Prince Wilhelm and was then promoted to senior president of the Potsdam government . In 1895, von Brandenstein was appointed president of the Hanover administrative district. After political inconveniences with the city administration of Hanover and the National Liberal Party , he resigned from office in 1903 and became the syndic of the Kur- und Neumärkischen knights . Until 1921 he was a knighthood syndic. In 1932 Brandenstein was the founder and first president of the German Bridge Association . He lived in Berlin until his death.

From 1905 to 1913 von Brandenstein was a member of the German Conservative Party in the Prussian House of Representatives .
