career

From the youth of Rot-Weiß Mülheim, the defensive player and defensive midfielder came to Hafenstrasse in Essen in 1978. When Willi Lippens was reamateurised for the amateur camp in the summer of 1981 and Frank Mill moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach at Bökelberg , Pusch under coach Alexander Mandziara at the side of Matthias Herget and Karl Richter got the chance to be parole in the second division. The team from Bergeborbeck finished 11th and Pusch had played in 21 league games and three DFB Cup games. He made his breakthrough in December 1981 in the cup game against Bayer Leverkusen with an excellent game. In the second year, 1982/83, he came on 37 missions, but in 1983/84 experienced relegation to the amateur league of North Rhine. There he belonged to the RWE championship team under coach Dieter Tartemann in 1985 , but failed with his teammates in the promotion round to competitors VfL Osnabrück and Tennis Borussia Berlin. After winning the second championship in 1986, he returned to the second division. As a promoter, Rot-Weiss Essen placed 10th in 1986/87 and Pusch had played in 35 games.

Under the former goalscorer Horst Hrubesch , who has been coaching since 1986 , they wanted to aim for a place in the top third of the table in 1987/88. After nine match days, the former "headball monster" was replaced by Peter Neururer , who was briefly replaced by Horst Franz after nine league games , before Lothar Buchmann made the 11th place for the team from the Georg-Melches-Stadion in the remaining 17 games Rank could lead. Dieter Bast led the list with 37 games, Pusch scored two goals in 35 appearances. The coaching carousel continued to turn in Essen, and in 1988/89 Pusch had to master the demands of the second division with three coaches. Buchmann was replaced by Siegfried Melzig , after which Hans-Günter Neues tried his luck. When Hans-Werner Moors moved up to sixth place in 1989/90, Pusch topped the RWE list with 37 appearances, ahead of Dirk Helmig and Willi Landgraf . In the 1990/91 round , RWE took 15th place, but had to go to the amateur camp due to the withdrawal of its license. Pusch had again played in 35 league games. From 1981 to 1991 Pusch was an integral part of the RWE team. He played a total of 348 competitive games for Rot-Weiss Essen and was elected to the red and white eleven of the century for the club's 100th anniversary. In 1991 he went to Wuppertaler SV and joined another 68 second division games with nine goals in the stadium at the Zoo .

Dirk Pusch has an A coaching license and was the coach of VfB Speldorf from 1998 to 2002 . From 2002 to 2005 he trained the league club Ratingen 04/19 . From 2015 to 2019 he was back as a trainer at his parent club Rot-Weiß Mülheim. In the second half of the 2018/19 season he moved to the district league competitor Mülheimer FC 97.
