Aleksander Mandziara (born August 16, 1940 in Gliwice as Alfons Mandziara ; † September 2, 2015 near Cologne ) was a Polish football player and football coach .
Career
Aleksander Mandziara played for Szombierki Bytom from 1963 to 1971 and was able to record his greatest success as a midfielder with the Polish runner-up title in 1965. He then played two seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie at NAC Breda and won the KNVB Beker in 1973. Mandziara let his active career at GKS Tychy end .
Aleksander Mandziara began his coaching career with GKS Tychy in 1975. He had his first chief position abroad in the 1981/82 season at Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he was dismissed in early 1983. In 1984 he took over the scepter at BSC Young Boys and became a guarantor of success there: in 1986 he led the team to the championship title , in 1987 to victory in the cup .
After his engagement at FC Biel in 1988/89 , he moved to Austria, where he initially looked after Linz ASK in 1989/90 and then led Stahl Linz in the Bundesliga in 1991 . Despite his success with the Koksstierlern, he was dismissed in the course of the following Bundesliga season after a cup defeat at FavAC to the displeasure of many fans. In the 1992/93 season he then briefly trained with SV Darmstadt 98 . From 1996 to 1998 he was in charge of training at FC Bern .
