Dirk Vogel (politician)
Dirk Vogel (born November 5, 1977 in Bad Kissingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been Lord Mayor of Bad Kissingen since 2020 .
Life
Dirk Vogel grew up in Bad Kissingen, where he graduated from high school in 1997. After doing his community service , he studied social sciences from 1998 to 2003 at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He then worked for two years as a consultant to the SPD party executive in the Willy Brandt House in Berlin. From 2005 to 2017 he worked in the administration of the Main-Kinzig district , among other things as head of department. While working, he completed a degree in business administration , which he completed with a master’s degree in 2010. He also taught at the Hessian University for Police and Administration (HfPV) in Wiesbaden. Also part-time, he obtained his doctorate in social sciences at the University of Göttingen in 2017. In 2017 he moved to the city of Rüsselsheim , where he was the office manager of the building department.
In 2013, Vogel ran for the SPD and a local group of voters as mayor in his then home town of Bruchköbel . He came to 32.6 percent of the vote and was subject to incumbent Günter Maibach (CDU), who reached 56.3 percent.
In the local elections in Bavaria on March 15, 2020, Vogel was elected Lord Mayor of Bad Kissingen with 51.09 percent of the votes in the first ballot. His term of office began on May 1, 2020.
