Franz Rothmund (born March 13, 1873 in Schweinfurt ; † May 8, 1954 in Unterrodach near Kronach ) was Mayor of Bad Kissingen from 1946 to 1947 .

Life

Franz Rothmund initially worked for the Post, where he retired as a post office worker. On May 24, 1902, he married Anna Helene Schopf from Bad Kissingen. At the age of 73, Rothmund was elected First Mayor of Bad Kissingen by the Bad Kissingen city council in 1946. He was appointed to succeed Franz Meinow , who had been elected district administrator in Ochsenfurt on May 25, 1946 .

Rothmund, however, had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1, 1933 . And so, shortly after taking office, Rothmund was suspended in the denazification process on charges of falsifying questionnaires. The case came before the Intermediate Military Court in Würzburg. However, Rothmund refused to resign as mayor, as this would amount to an admission of guilt. From September 27, 1946 to April 18, 1947, he again chaired the city council meetings. After that, however, he was again on leave. On April 30, 1947, the Bad Kissingen city council elected Karl Fuchs as his successor. With that, Rothmund resigned from the city council.

In 1954 Rothmund died in Unterrodach in Upper Franconia.
