The district of Alytus (German district of Alitten ) is one of the ten administrative districts that form the top tier of the Lithuanian regional authorities. It belongs to the historical region of Dzūkija . The district is densely forested and is one of the most sparsely populated regions in the country. The Dzūkija National Park is located in this region .
