Ditrichum (German Doppelhaarmoose ) is a cosmopolitan genus of deciduous moss from the family Ditrichaceae .

features

Mosses of the genus Ditrichum are upright, simple or sometimes not very branched, loose or dense lawn-forming plants and grow on earth and rocks. The stem cross-section has a central strand. The moist, upright leaves are lanceolate to oblong from the ovoid base, the leaf margins entire or toothed above. The strong leaf vein takes up about a sixth to a third of the leaf width at the base. The usually smooth leaf cells are rectangular to linear below, rectangular to square above. Leaf-wing cells are not differentiated.

The spore capsule on the long seta is cylindrical, upright or inclined, the 16 peristome teeth are split or perforated down to the bottom into two thread-like legs. The capsule lid is conical or short beaked, the kalyptra is cap-shaped. Often rhizoid gems are formed, which are used for vegetative reproduction.
