The Divizia Națională 1996/97 was the sixth season of the Moldovan top division in men's football . FC Constructorul Chișinău became champions for the first time . The season began on August 3, 1996 and ended on June 19, 1997. From the beginning of December 1996 to mid-March 1997, the game was closed ( winter break ).
