Djibrail Kassab

Djibrail Kassab (born August 4, 1938 in Telkef ) is retired Archbishop ad personam of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Sydney .

Life

Djibrail Kassab was ordained a priest on January 19, 1961 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Baghdad . Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Bassora on October 24, 1995 .

He was ordained bishop on May 5th of the following year by the Patriarch of Babylon and Archbishop of Baghdad , His Beatitude Raphael I. Bidawid ; Co- consecrators were Georges Garmou , Archbishop of Mosul , Karim Geries Mourad Delly , Auxiliary Bishop in Babylon, Hanna Markho , Archbishop of Erbil , and Ibrahim Namo Ibrahim , Bishop of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Detroit .

On October 21, 2006, he was named archbishop ad personam of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Sydney .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 15, 2014.
