Dolynjany ( Ukrainian Долиняни ; Russian Долиняны Dolinjany , Polish Doliniany ) is a village in the western Ukrainian Lviv Oblast with about 670 inhabitants.

It belongs with the villages of Hodwyschnja ( Годвишня ) and Vowchuchy ( Вовчухи ) to the district council of the same name .

history

The place was mentioned as Dolinyani in 1443 , and then later as Dolynany (1496), Doliniani (1578) and so on. The name denotes the inhabitants of the valley .

The place initially belonged to the Lviv region in the Ruthenian Voivodeship of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania . During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1900 the municipality Doliniany had 102 houses with 580 inhabitants, 406 of them Polish-speaking, 174 Ruthenian-speaking, 408 Roman Catholic, 160 Greek Catholic, 12 Jews.

After the end of the Polish-Ukrainian War in 1919, the community became part of Poland. In 1921 it had 158 houses with 814 inhabitants, including 714 Poles, 100 Ruthenians, 593 Roman Catholics, 216 Greek Catholics, 5 Jews (religion).

In the Second World War , the place belonged first to the Soviet Union and from 1941 to the General Government , from 1945 back to the Soviet Union, now part of the Ukraine .

After the war, 80 Polish families were relocated to Kościerzyce and Nowa Cerekwia .
