Eberhard Mahle

Eberhard Mahle (born January 7, 1933 in Stuttgart ) is a former German automobile racing driver .

Life

Eberhard Mahle, called Ebs , is the son of Ernst Mahle (engineer) , co-founder and co-owner of today's Mahle GmbH . He is said to have taken his parents' car on an excursion in Vorarlberg as early as the age of eleven . At the age of 21 and reaching the age of majority, Mahle competed in the Stuttgart Solitude Rally in 1954 in a DKW F91 and won the class for series touring cars up to 1000 cc.

In 1958 Mahle won the German GT Championship in an Alfa Romeo and in 1959 he finished second in the Targa Florio with a Porsche 550 . Also in 1959 he won the ONS Bergmeister Cup for touring cars on a Volvo PV544 . From 1960, Eberhard Mahle was, alongside Eugen Böhringer and Walter Schock, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz rally factory team . In 1966 he won the European Hill Climb Championship with a Porsche 911 .

In 1968, Mahle said goodbye to racing in order to focus on managing the family business. Today he lives in Leonberg and regularly takes part in historical motorsport events as a guest. Eberhard Mahle is an advisory board member of the Mahle Foundation .
