Domenico Genovesi
Domenico Genovesi (born March 31, 1765 in Rome ; † January 8, 1835 there ) was an Italian curial archbishop .
Life
He studied at the Roman University of La Sapienza and acquired there on September 20, 1823 the academic degree of Doctor iuris utriusque . He was first canon of the Church of Santa Maria in Via Lata and later canon of San Giovanni in Laterano .
Pope Gregory XVI appointed him on December 17, 1832 titular Archbishop of Mitylene . He was ordained bishop on December 30th of the same year by Cardinal Carlo Odescalchi SJ ; Co- consecrators were the Latin Patriarch of Antioch , Lorenzo Girolamo Mattei , and Archbishop Antonio Luigi Piatti . On June 23, 1834, Domenico Genovesi was appointed secretary of the Congregation for Indulgences and Holy Relics , a position he held until his death.
