Dominic Mendy

Dominic Mendy (born October 13, 1959 in Sibanor ) was a minister in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

Mendy graduated from Fourah Bay College ( University of Sierra Leone ) in 1987 with a degree in economics and sociology . Later on at the University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) 1995 the MBA .

From 1982 onwards he was employed as an auditor at the " Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation ", and later from 1993 at the Standard Chartered Bank in Banjul .

In August 1995 he was appointed Secretary of State for Trade, Industry and Employment to the Cabinet of President Yahya Jammeh in the Gambia , replacing Bala Garba-Jahumpa in this position. On March 8, 1997, he changed departments and was then Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs . He replaced Bala Garba-Jahumpa in this position, who was employed in the diplomatic mission in London. Mendy was dismissed from office in January 1999 without explanation. The department was then continued by Famara Jatta .

Dominic Mendy has since worked in the private sector as a director of "Emanic Consulting", which was founded in March 1999, and as a freelance consultant and lectured on "Organizational Behavior" at the University of Gambia . He is also a member of the “Trade and Globalization” committee of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
