Don't Ever Leave Me is a song from the 1929 Broadway musical Sweet Adeline . It was composed by Jerome Kern. The lyrics are by Oscar Hammerstein . The song was sung for the first time in 1929 by Helen Morgan and Robert Chisholm. Since its debut, the song has been performed by numerous artists of various musical styles and has found acceptance in the Great American Songbook .
