Don Lusk
Donald "Don" Lusk (born October 28, 1913 in Burbank , † December 30, 2018 in San Clemente ) was an American animator and director . He gained fame through his work on films for The Walt Disney Company .
Life
Don Lusk began his career at Walt Disney Studios in 1933 at the age of 20. The short film Ferdinand the Bull is one of his early works , although he was not named in the credits. The first full-length cartoon Lusk worked on was Pinocchio from 1940 (after Snow White , Pinocchio was only the second full-length Disney film ever). In the following years he worked on some of Disney's most famous cartoons, including Fantasia , Bambi , Cinderella , Alice in Wonderland , Peter Pan , Lady and the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty .
In 1960 Don Lusk left the Walt Disney Company to work as an independent animator. In 1961, 101 Dalmatians, the last Disney film was released with his participation. However, Lusk continued to work as an animator for cartoons and series, including for Charlie Brown and friends, as well as other films and television specials from The Peanuts . He also worked as a director in his last active years. In 1993 Lusk ended his career after 60 years at the age of 80.
Don Lusk celebrated his hundredth birthday in October 2013. In 2014 he was honored for his services with the Winsor McCay Award, which honors people in the field of animation. In 2015, Lusk was interviewed in the documentary series American Experience . He died on December 30, 2018 at the age of 105.
