Donald Michel Marcotte (born April 15, 1947 in Arthabaska , Québec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played a total of 1,000 games for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League between 1965 and 1982 .

Career

Marcotte spent his junior career from 1964 to 1967 with the Niagara Falls Flyers in the Ontario Hockey Association . With the team, the striker won both the J. Ross Robertson Cup as champions of the OHA and the Memorial Cup in 1965 . Due to the fact that the Flyers cooperated with the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League during this period , Marcotte sniffed NHL air for the first time in the 1965/66 season .

From the fall of 1967 he finally played for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League . From the 1968/69 season onwards, his willingness to work brought him repeatedly to the NHL with the Bruins, but it wasn't until the end of the 1969/70 season that he earned a permanent place in the squad, which he did not give up until his resignation in spring 1982 . Overall, he completed a total of 1000 games for Boston in the regular season and the play-offs , which were crowned by winning two Stanley Cups at the end of the 1969/70 and 1971/72 seasons . During his time with the Bruins, the defensive striker scored 545 points.

His qualities on the defensive brought him a place in the squad of the NHL All-Stars for the Challenge Cup 1979 , which the NHL lost to the national team of the USSR after victories with 1: 2. He was used in one of the three games.
