Don Patterson
Don Patterson (born July 22, 1936 in Columbus , Ohio , † February 10, 1988 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American jazz organist.
Patterson received piano training as a child and switched to organ at the age of 20. He worked with several bands before becoming known as Sonny Stitt's organist . Since 1964 he has also been able to record his own albums, often in a trio with guitarist Pat Martino and drummer Billy James . After he recorded numerous albums for the Prestige label in the 1960s , only a few recordings were made due to drug problems in the 1970s.
