Donald Grantham

Donald Grantham (born November 9, 1947 in Duncan, Oklahoma ) is an American composer , conductor and university professor who is mainly active in the field of symphonic wind music .

Life

Donald Grantham studied from 1967 to 1970 at the University of Oklahoma and from 1970 to 1973 at the University of Southern California with Halsey Stevens , Robert Linn and Ramiro Cortés . In 1973 and 1974 he also studied with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. In 1980 he completed his education with a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California. In 1974 Grantham began teaching at the University of Southern California; the following year he moved to the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin , where he has also been Professor of Composition since 1991.
