Donald W. MacArdle

Donald Wales MacArdle (born July 3, 1897 in Quincy , Massachusetts , † December 23, 1964 in Littleton , Colorado ) was an American engineer and musicologist .

Life

MacArdle originally studied chemistry and worked as an engineer for most of his life. He also studied music and musicology, the latter at New York University with Curt Sachs . He later wrote music reviews for a Boston newspaper and an American music journal. He also directed several amateur orchestras. Of his publications, his essays and books on Ludwig van Beethoven are particularly valuable.
