Christian Dondera (born January 25, 1969 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Dondera was under contract with Bayer 05 Uerdingen for two years at the end of the 1980s , but was not used. With the Bayer 05 A youth class around Ansgar Brinkmann and Marcel Witeczek , he became German junior champion in 1987 with a 2-1 final victory over Eintracht Frankfurt . In 1988, the midfielder moved from the youth to the Bundesliga squad of the club. However, Dondera did not manage to prevail against experienced players such as Friedhelm Funkel , Holger Fach or Horst Steffen , who was of the same age . In 1988/89 Dondera was thirteenth with Uerdingen, the following year only fourteenth. Then he left the club. In the nineties he played for some West German clubs, his most important station was Rot-Weiss Essen from 1992 to 1997. In 1993/94 Dondera made his professional debut in the 2nd Bundesliga when he was coached by Jürgen Röber on the first day of the new season the starting lineup was called up. In the second division season, the midfielder was the only Essener who played for the club in every point game. Nevertheless, he could not prevent the descent either. In 1996 he rose again with the Red and White, but without being a regular player in the 1996/97 season . For Essen, Dondera played 49 second division games and scored seven goals, as well as another 75 games (10 goals) in regional and major leagues. One of his greatest successes during this time was reaching the final for the DFB Cup in 1993/94 , when they lost 3-1 to Werder Bremen . In the final game, Dondera was on the field for the full season. In the winter break of 1996/97, the offensive player left Essen and joined Germania Teveren , where he was under contract until the summer of 1998. In 1998/99 Dondera was finally under contract with Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the Oberliga Nordrhein . Other clubs for which Dondera came up were Hamborn 07 and 1. FC Bocholt .

Today Dondera works alongside Patrick Notthoff in the rehabilitation center in Oberhausen as a rehabilitation trainer.
